I started in the Rockies yesterday afternoon, and managed to get to a camping ground about 25 kms from Salida, I pitched tent by the river and was all ready for my first night in the mountains.I didn't realise that throughout the afternoon I had been slowly ascending the mountains and it wasn't until I noticed I was out of breath at one point that the air is thinner and I was over 2000 metres above sea level.
Anyway I had a good evening because I was invited to Beer and burgers by a very friendly Airforce crew , so we sat by the river talking , playing guitar and enjoying the landscape and company...Cheers everyone!!
Now I'm on my way out of Salida cycling into even higher ground!
Have a nice day!
